Matson Navigation Company (“Matson”) announced that in order to offset the significant higher costs all businesses have incurred, Matson’s service rates for their Guam and CNMI service will increase by the following increments effective January 29, 2023:
For intermodal, Matson will adjust that portion of rates separately as appropriate for the individual lane.
Lastly, The Guam Department of Agriculture recently announced a change to its Invasive Species Inspection Fee effective January 1, 2023. Matson will begin adding the fee January 15, 2023.
The current fee assessment of $0.75 per 1,000 lbs will be changed to a per-container charge as follows:
$26 per 20’ container
$52 per 40’ container
$58.50 per 45’container
As a result, our Guam, CNMI and Micronesia rates will increase by like amounts for Full Container Loads (FCL). For Less-than-Container Load (LCL) cargo, our Customer rates will be raised based on various factors, including the commodity, density, and current costs. These changes will take effect with shipments sailing on or after January 29, 2023. Please contact your Salesperson to discuss any adjustments to your rate levels.
