Los Angeles and Long Beach Port Clean Truck Fund Rate

As announced in our Breaking Alert that was sent out Thursday, March 24, 2022, the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach began collecting a new Clean Truck Fund (CTF) Rate on April 1, 2022, to help the ports achieve zero-emissions drayage trucking by 2035. These two ports are collecting $10 per TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) and $20 per container longer than 20 feet on loaded import, export, domestic and international containers hauled by drayage trucks as they enter or leave container terminals and rail cargo moving to or off nearby rail ramps via truck.

Although we traditionally provide our customers with a minimum of 30 days' notice on fee changes, the timing of the announcement and subsequent implementation did not afford as such. As a result of this charge, we did pass along the cost in a Clean Truck Fund Rate of $0.02 per cubic foot for LCL shipments and for FCL shipments, $10 for a 20-foot container and $20 for 40/45-foot containers effective April 1st.

Fuel Related Surcharge Increase – Hawaii / Guam / Micronesia

As announced in our Breaking Alert that was sent out Thursday, March 10, 2022, due to the recent sharp and sustained increase in all fuel prices, Matson increased its fuel-related surcharge, effective for sailings on and after Sunday, April 10, 2022. The surcharge for Hawaii service increased from 38.5% to46.0%; for Guam/CNMI service, it increased from 39.5% to 47.0%; and for Micronesia service, it increased from 43.5% to 51.0%.

Warehousing and Storage

We have palletized goods storage capabilities in Honolulu, Maui, Kona, and Guam. Our customers are able to monitor inventory levels, ship an order with same day/next day delivery, and use our facilities as a potential “back of the store.” You can increase your retail selling space or free up your work space in your existing facility and have supplies arrive as you need them. Coronavirus

There is so much news available, we felt it was really not necessary to comment other than to state that from the U.S. Mainland, there have been no delays impacting Hawaii or Guam. Shipments exporting fromAsiamay still experience delays as theocean carriers cancel sailings and air freight capacity is still somewhat limited.
