DHX - Dependable Hawaiian Express

Dear Valued Customer:

As you may be aware, under terms of the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Harbors Division’s financing plan for its Harbors Modernization Program, the State has been phasing in wharfage fee and port security fee increases on July 1 over the last several years. These fees support important development work under the Harbors Modernization Program: expanding harbor capacity, accommodating advancements in containerized cargo handling, alleviating congestion and shortage of available operational space, and developing more adaptable and resilient port facilities.

We have been informed by Matson Navigation Company (“Matson”), that the State has announced increases of 3% to both wharfage and port security fees, effective July 1, 2021. In anticipation of these increases, Matson will increase its Hawaii Wharfage and Port Security charges by the same amounts on July 1, 2021.

The newly adjusted amounts are as follows:

DHX – Dependable Hawaiian Express will pass through these increased State fees for shipments on and after Thursday, July 1, 2021. For full container loads, costs will be passed through at cost. For less than container loads (LCL) wharfage fees will increase $.01 for all islands. Our current Facilities Security Charge will not change.
