According to Pakistan Customs, carriers are bound to file Customs manifest, including container ownership and consignee NTN, for each shipment. The consignees NTN is to be updated on the Bill of Lading which is released by origin office. All customers are requested to provide the complete NTN, name, and address of the importer when submitting Shipping Instructions. As per Customs rule, a non-manifested unit will not be allowed to discharge in Pakistan and will remain on board at customers risk, cost and responsibility.

According to Pakistan Customs Rule .2001 amended in Responsibilities of Licensee for imports into Pakistan, the carrier is to disclose all destination local collect charges, other than freight, on the Bill of Lading itself. The carrier must also state on the Bill of Lading the agreed to free days and detention tariff per container. All shipments which will be discharged in Pakistan for clearance or in-transit to Afghanistan must reflect the required charge details.

Coronavirus

With an abundance of news available concerning the Coronavirus, we felt it would be best to limit our commenting on this topic other than to state that ocean carriers have increased their blank sailings and altered various routings impacting both space and equipment availability along with transit times on both East and West bound services. In such cases, alternative options will be explored in order to minimize disruption to the service and ensure your shipments continue to move as scheduled.

Should you have any questions, please contact your local DGX office or representative, or call us at 888-488-4888 or at 310-669-8888.

Thank you for your business – we appreciate it!
