Wharfage and Facilities Security Charges

We have been informed by Matson Navigation Company (“Matson”) the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Harbors Division is proceeding with important development work under its Harbors Modernization Program that is designed to expand harbor capacity, accommodate advancements in containerized cargo handling, alleviate congestion and shortage of available operational space, and develop more adaptable and resilient port facilities.

As part of its financing plan for this program, the State has been phasing in wharfage fee increases over the last three years. The last planned increase will be 3 percent and will take effect on July 1, 2019.

While rates vary depending on equipment size, commodity and destination, for the majority of customers the July 2019 change will result in increases of approximately $4 - $9 per container on domestic Honolulu freight and $9 - $18 on domestic Neighbor Island freight.

Beard for Buck$ - A campaign to help raise money for charity, that will help the homeless in Hawaii. So far with our participating partnerships, we have earmarked over $35,000 for charity, with 2 more months until the completion of our new warehouse. You can see monthly updates regarding the current length of the beard on each of our social media channels. With the pledges we’ve received, our and our partners’ total contributions to the selected charities will exceed $50,000!

The 2 charities listed below, will be receiving 100% of all donations:

We hope that you join us in this fun, yet charitable cause. #beardforbucks #honolulu #hawaii

Just so you know, for a single donation of $10,000, Brad Dechter, the President of DHX-Dependable Hawaiian Express, and DGX (Dependable Global Express) dyed his beard purple, one of the official colors of Dependable Supply Chain Services, for a month! There is a picture of Brad and his purple beard on each of our social media channels.

For a single $25,000 contribution Brad has pledged he will dye the beard and his hair purple for a month! (All of us at the company are hoping someone does this to him.) It’s all for a great cause, folks!

If you are thinking of donating to a worthy cause, this is it! We appreciate any donation you can make to help the homeless in Honolulu. Just click on the link above to the charity of your choice and be sure to tie your contribution into the Beard for Buck$ campaign!
