Position Description:

Work Location: This is a hybrid position. Must reside in Southern California and be able to commute to the office located at 19201 Susana Rd., Rancho Dominguez, CA 90221.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise freight forwarder import staff and operations
• Provide guidance and training to the import team
• Monitor staff performance, scheduling and conduct performance evaluations of direct reports.
• Assign and evaluate staff workload to maintain an efficient allocation of resources.
• Hire and train import personnel
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and all industry regulations.
• Recommend updates to workflows, policies and procedures
• Prepare department reports and metrics
• Issue arrival notices
• Arrange shipment on forwarding to specified destinations
• Generate shipment invoicing
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective shipment processing
• Handle other job assignments as determined by direct Manager

Qualifications:

• 5 years minimum experience in ocean and air imports with a freight forwarder including supervisory experience
• Strong leadership skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Great attention to detail
• Cargowise experience preferred
• Experience working in a remote or hybrid environment
• Basic accounting skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Experience in customs brokerage is a plus
• HS diploma or equivalent. BA/BS preferred
