Puerto Rico
As you are probably aware, the situation in Puerto Rico remains extremely challenging since the
hurricane struck, and unfortunately, progress has been slow due to the overall
scale of the devastation to property and the entire infrastructure of the
Island.
Operational efficiencies continue to be well below normal, and the ripple
effect of delays affects all involved in the operational process, from pick up
to departure, and delivery. The combination of driver shortages and the
scarcity of available empty ocean equipment returning from the Island set the
tone for the overall frustration being felt by all involved in the trade-lane.
Currently, barges and vessels scheduled to sail Southbound from US
Mainland to Puerto Rico are booked solid and are off the market for several
weeks. Delays and shutouts will continue to be experienced by all,
including relief cargo, for the foreseeable future.
From our point of control, we are part of the solution but utilizing our
services for the foreseeable future will require patience, recognition and
acceptance of the disruption affecting our organized efforts. We continue
to manage our operations on a day to day basis in an effort to help our
customers manage this crisis through the long haul. For the sake of all
concerned, please be sure to notify your customer of this information.

1, 2017 and will end on April 30, 2018. During this period all high risk

Terminal Handling Charge
–Hawaii to Guam
As
previously announced in January 2017, the State of Hawaii Department of
Transportation, Harbors Division’s next wharfage increase
of 15% took effect on October 1, 2017. As part
of the State’s financing plan for its multi-year harbors modernization program,
a third increase of 15% is also scheduled for an effective date of July 1, 2018.
Because of this
increase in our underlying costs, we are changed our Hawaii to Guam terminal
handling charges to reflect this adjustment. THC increased by $0.04 per cubic
foot effective with sailings on or after October 1, 2017. By doing this, we are
able to maintain our service levels as well as the financial stability you
would expect and want from your service provider. We apologize for any
inconvenience this change will cause you.
Should you have
additional questions or scheduling concerns, please contact your local office
or contact our DHX Customer Service Center at 800-488-4888, Ext. 2020, or DGX at 888-488-4888
or 310-669-8888.
