New TSA Rules Require 100% Screening of Airfreight Shipments

The new screening requirements mandated by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) may impact your cargo! We’d like to inform you of the new requirements for your airfreight shipments.

DAX Dependable AirCargo Express’ Los Angelesand Chicagofacilitieshaverecently been approved and certified by the TSA as a Certified Cargo Screening Facility (CCSF). We are fully compliant with all regulations set forth by the TSA Screening program to ensure safe, secure movement of your airfreight shipments. Once your freight arrives to our dock, we will place it in a secure, locked, fenced area specifically designed as our Designated Screening Area (DSA). This is where the items will be carefully screened, and securely held in our staging area for departure to the airport. We are not at liberty to discuss or reveal our screening methods as per TSA rules.

Shippers are encouraged by the TSA to participate in the screening program as well. You can find additional information on the screening program at http://www.TSA.gov/ccsp.

Our new certification program will enable us to use all air carriers, routing on the most direct flights without delays caused by a screening bottleneck expected at the airport in the very near future. All cargo is required to be screened prior to boarding the aircraft. DAX will screen your airfreight at our LAXand ORDlocationsprior to transferring it to the airport. Each airline will allow prescreened cargo to be accepted from certified screening facilities and upon arrival to the airport, will be allowed to by-pass the general receiving area. Your shipments arrive prescreened, and ready for take off!

Effective August 1, 2010, all cargo must be screened. We are currently starting to screen cargo as part of our certification program. This may require opening your shipments for inspection either by the airline, or by our certified staff. We’ve taken special care, including training our certified employees, to ensure that the utmost of care is taken when handling your goods. We assure you that our employees have been thoroughly screened in advance in order to protect your goods.

Your signature on our air waybill is your acceptance of our terms and conditions. Item #2 states “Carrier (DAX) shall have the right, but not an obligation to inspect any shipment”. We will now be required to inspect and screen all shipments using one of the approved methods as outlined by the TSA. Should you choose to decline this screening process, your shipment will move under limited aircraft availability as Cargo Aircraft Only (CAO), and rates will be subject to change without notice.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Gloria Whittington at 800-700-3858 ext 1224. Email gloria.whittington@dhx.com.

Thank you for your business – we appreciate it!

Sincerely,
